The son of a Belfast solicitor murdered by loyalist paramilitaries and a solicitor himself, John Finucane is Lord Mayor of Belfast. His bid to become the first nationalist MP for North Belfast was boosted after the SDLP and Green Party stood aside in support of the Remain candidate.
Nuala McAllister served as the Lord Mayor of Belfast in 2017-2018, the first young mother to be sworn in for the role. Earlier this year the Alliance Councillor topped the poll in the Castle DEA. She previously contested the 2016 and 2017 Assembly elections in the constituency.
