An MLA for South Antrim since 2018, John Blair replaced David Ford in the Northern Ireland Assembly when the former Alliance leader called time on his political career. The party said Mr Blair was Stormont's first openly gay MLA. He previously represented Glengormley on Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and served as a Deputy Mayor. He also sat on Newtownabbey Council.

Paul Girvan became MP for South Antrim in 2017 when the DUP man took the seat from then-UUP MP Danny Kinahan. Mr Girvan was first elected at Stormont, representing South Antrim, in 2003 and later returned to the Assembly from 2010-2017 after he was co-opted to replace William McCrea. He is a former mayor of Newtownabbey.
Sinn Fein national chairperson Declan Kearney was first elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2016 and was re-elected a year later, topping the poll in South Antrim. He is a key member of the party's leadership. He was previously northern chairperson and deputy general secretary. Mr Kearney has spoken often on the theme of reconciliation and has shared a platform with former PSNI Chief Constable George Hamilton.
Former MP Danny Kinahan lost his South Antrim seat to his DUP challenger Paul Girvan in 2017, only two years after being elected to Westminster. The UUP man had taken the seat from the DUP's William McCrea in 2015. He previously represented South Antrim in the Northern Ireland Assembly and at local government level. Before joining the Ulster Unionist Party, he was an officer in the British Army, serving in Germany, Northern Ireland and the Falklands.
Roisin Lynch has been an SDLP councillor serving on the Antrim and Newtownabbey Council, representing Antrim Town, since 2014. The mother of seven previously ran a technology business in the SME sector and was a Northern Ireland Assembly election candidate for the party.
