Séamas de Faoite has served on Belfast City Council since 2019. He is now in his second term and representing the area of Lisnasharragh. He is a member of both Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth NI and proposed the creation of the council's Climate Crisis Working Group. He is also a founding member of SDLP LGBT+.

Naomi Long is seeking to retake the Westminster seat she lost to Gavin Robinson in 2015 in one of the key battlegrounds. The Alliance leader served as MP for the constituency from 2010-2015 but has lost the following three General Elections to new DUP leader Robinson. Mrs Long pushed her rival close last time out in 2019, coming within 2,000 votes. She returned to Stormont as an MLA in 2016 and was also elected as MEP for Northern Ireland in 2019, as a result of what was dubbed the Alliance surge. She is a former Lord Mayor of Belfast.

A lifelong east Belfast resident, Ryan North is one of four Independent candidates attached to the new NI People party. He has worked in a range of roles within the community, from the motor trade to catering.

Gavin Robinson is the leader of the DUP. He has been MP for East Belfast since retaking the seat for his party from Naomi Long in 2015. He has won subsequent General Elections in East Belfast in 2017 and 2019, when Mrs Long got to within 2,000 votes. A former member of Belfast City Council, Mr Robinson served as the Lord Mayor of Belfast in 2012-2013 during the flag protests in the city. He is also a barrister.

John Ross served 23 years in the Parachute Regiment in Northern Ireland and the Falkland Islands. He left the Army in 1993 and has also managed the Northern Ireland operation for DHL.

Brian Smyth is a Belfast City councillor for the Lisnasharragh DEA, having been elected in 2019 before holding onto his seat last year. He stood in the 2022 Assembly election in East Belfast, and is a lifelong Cliftonville FC supporter.

Ryan Warren is taking his first steps in the political fold as he stands for the UUP in East Belfast. Mr Warren has taken an environmentalist stance in his campaigning, opting to promote himself without physical posters, instead choosing a digital alternative.
