Jonathan Buckley began his political career in 2014 when he topped the poll in the Portadown DEA of Craigavon Borough Council at the age of 22. In 2017, he became the DUP's youngest ever MLA, elected to represent Upper Bann at the age of 26. He succeeded Sydney Anderson, for whom he had worked as a researcher at the age of 16.

Robbie Butler has been an MLA for Lagan Valley since 2016, and deputy leader of the Ulster Unionist Party since 2021. Before entering politics as a councillor in 2014, he had served as a Fire and Rescue Officer with the Northern Ireland Fire Service.

Patricia Denvir works as a finance manager at a Belfast-based charity and has been the Green Party (NI) treasurer for two years. She is trained as a chartered accountant and has a Masters in economics and psychology. The mother of two is passionate about the environment and social justice.

Alliance Party

Sorcha Eastwood was elected as an MLA for Lagan Valley in 2022. Her first political ventures were unsuccessful in West Belfast, before she was elected as a Lisburn and Castlereagh City councillor in May 2019, topping the poll in Castlereagh South. Later that year she contested the General Election in Lagan Valley, losing out to Jeffrey Donaldson but increasing Alliance's vote share by 17.7%.

Social Democratic and Labour Party

Simon Lee was elected to Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council in the Castlereagh South DEA in 2019 as a representative of the Green Party (NI). He defected to the SDLP in 2022 but failed to win re-election to the council in 2023.

Lorna Smyth joined the Armed Forces in 2001 and served with the Royal Air Force in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan. A single mother, she has also worked as a Safety and Compliance Manager in the aviation sector of the oil and gas industry.
