Orfhlaith Begley became MP for West Tyrone at the age of 26 after a by-election in May 2018. The by-election was called following the resignation of the previous Sinn Fein MP, Barry McElduff, over a controversial social media video he posted on the anniversary of the Kingsmills atrocity. She retained that seat in the General Election a year later. A native of Carrickmore, Ms Begley is the first female MP to represent the constituency since its creation in 1997.

Matthew Bell (24) ran in last year's council elections, failing to win a Fermanagh and Omagh District Council seat in Omagh DEA. He graduated from Queen's University with a degree in History and Politics before completing a Masters in History.

Thomas Buchanan has spent more than three decades in politics, having first been elected to Omagh District Council in 1993. He was first elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2003 and has held his seat through five subsequent elections, topping the poll in 2017.

Stephen Donnelly made history in 2019 when he became the first ever Alliance councillor to be elected onto Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, as part of what was dubbed the Alliance surge. He was successfully re-elected in 2023.

Leza Houston ran in last year's council election in the Derg DEA of Derry and Strabane District Council while studying law at Ulster University. She also gave birth just days before polling, which she said would be a "great story" to tell baby Bennett when he gets older.

Stephen Lynch was born in London and does not live in the West Tyrone constituency, although his parents are from Castlederg. He ran as a local election candidate in Derbyshire last year. He is a former press adviser to the Conservative Party and has worked as Channel 4's Public Affairs Manager.

Daniel McCrossan

Daniel McCrossan was co-opted to the Assembly in January 2016 to replace the retiring Joe Byrne, before being successfully elected as an MLA in May of the same year. He was re-elected in 2017 and 2022. He has attempted to win the Westminster seat on several occasions: the 2017 and 2019 General Elections, and a 2018 by-election.

A lifelong Castlederg resident, Stevan Patterson recently retired after almost 40 years of service as a computer technician at South West College, Omagh. He was also a part-time lecturer in the college. He is a member of the Orange Order.
